Retractable Awnings

Retractable awnings are a great way to increase Energy Efficiency and to let you and your family enjoy the outdoors more.

You see them used on houses, apartment buildings and commercial buildings and they can be a wonderful energy saver. And they're not just for windows- you can use them over decks, terraces and patios as well.

Protection From The Sun

Whether you are indoors or out, awnings keep the sun off and help protect your indoor and outdoor furniture from fading.

Awnings, like other exterior window coverings, keep the sun and heat out of your house. The house doesn't get as hot and the cooling system doesn't have to work as hard. Awnings also decrease glare without blocking your view.

Protection From The Rain

With the protection of a retractable awning, you can have a nice meal out on the patio or deck even if it's raining.

Many people live in areas of unpredictable weather, especially in the summer. You never know when it's going to rain! With awnings, you don't worry about planning something out on the deck or patio. If it doesn't rain, great. If it does, no big deal. You're always prepared either way.

Note: Some products are more durable and can be left open in heavy rain and wind. Others must be closed during periods of harsh weather. Make sure you know which kind you have so it doesn't get ruined.

Hand Crank vs. Motorized

The beauty of the retractable type is when you are ready for the sun, just put it back and enjoy!

Of course for Energy Efficiency we prefer the non electric, hand crank models but motorized models are also available. If you opt for the motorized, look for a manual override option (in case the electricity goes) and remote control.
