There are certain ways in which you can judge whether your home is environmentally friendly. The small things count, so let’s ask ourselves a few questions that can help us judge whether out home is environmentally friendly. Firstly, are you using fluorescent light bulbs and doing the best you can to cut down on energy consumption? Even if that means using energy efficient electrical appliances such as washing machines and refrigerators? If no, then your home isn’t completely environmentally friendly.
The use of fluorescent light bulbs can make a huge difference in energy consumption and are highly environmentally friendly. You could start by replacing the normal bulbs in your home with these. Most of us are in the habit of using bottles water in our homes instead of drinking tap water. Using bottles water shows how environmentally unfriendly your home is. Try boiling you water if you feel that tap water isn’t healthy. It just takes a few minutes, but will save the environment from a lot of damage. Are you recycling the waste from your homes? If yes, then your home is very environmentally friendly.
If you don’t recycle, you should get into the habit. Try finding out the recycling days in your locality and make it a point to stick to them and give away stuff that can be recycled. Try using recycled items in your home as well. This will make your home environmentally friendly. Items like recycled paper is a good start. You should always try to control the amount of electricity you consume. Leaving the heating or cooling on unnecessarily or for too long causes a lot of damage.
So you need to ask yourself, are you using your heating and cooling to the absolute minimum. If yes, then your home is environmentally friendly. Too much water being wasted when doing the dishes or showering is also a sign of your home not being environmentally friendly. Try reducing the wastage of water in your home in order to make your home environmentally friendly. Switching of unnecessary lighting is also a good way of making your home an environmentally friendly one.
These are small questions that you can ask and small tips that you can follow to make your house a more environmentally friendly place. It’s the small efforts that multiply into huge benefits for the environment. Not everyone is expected to spend heavily on installing solar panels to make their homes environmentally friendly, but all of us can certainly pool in on our own to change the way we live. Making small efforts can lead to drastic changes. So now ask yourself, is your home environmentally friendly?
