A white living room is clean, vibrant and cheerful, but it is also a bit sterile in appearance. It can be softened and made to look and feel more welcoming with the addition of gorgeous emerald accents. Patterned chairs, lamps, wall art and throw pillows can be used to incorporate green into the decorating scheme. Gold or silver can also be used when decorating a green and white living room in stylish new ways, and it can look fantastic.
One of my clients had a beautiful white living room, but it was in need of a fresh new look. The decorating scheme was gorgeous, but she wanted to add another color to give it more life. I suggested green since the large picture window overlooked a beautiful garden filled with foliage and vibrant blooms. She loved the idea, and I came up with a plan to begin decorating her white living room with green and silver accents. White was the predominant color, but the green made the space much more inviting.
Create a Seating Area with Green Patterned Chairs
I suggested donating the three chairs when coming up with a decorating plan for my client’s white living room. The chairs were old, dated and worn, and she was ready for a new decorating scheme. During a shopping spree in Oakbrook IL, we chose three new upholstered chairs in a modern French provincial design. One had a white background with beautiful green floral accents, and the other two were embellished with grass green geometric designs. They were perfect for the living room, but we had more shopping to do.
Consider Decorating a White Living Room Sofa with Green Throw Pillows
I led my client to the home decorating section of an exclusive department store. I wanted her to choose two throw pillows for her solid white living room sofa. She selected two throw pillows with stripes in various shades of green and silver. They were a lovely addition to her living room, and the silver stripes sparked another idea.
Decorating with Wall Art Framed in Silver
I wanted to incorporate a little more silver into the decorating scheme. After finding the throw pillows, we moved to the wall art department. I found a pair of beautiful framed and matted prints that depicted Grecian vases filled with gorgeous white snowball flowers and lush green foliage. They looked lovely on both sides of her sunburst mirror. The mirror was not new, but it beautifully fit the decorating scheme, especially since the frame was silver and exceptionally eye catching.
Opt for Green Jar Lamps with Crisp White Shades
My client’s lamps also needed an overhaul. She had a pair of jar lamps with white bases. They seemed to be coated with something similar to drywall mud, and the finish was flat. I wanted to save my client a little money, and with her permission I painted the bases a beautiful shade of flat emerald green. I added two new, bright white lampshades. The transformation was amazing, and the lamps completed the decorating scheme of my client’s green and white living room.
