How To Repair A Boiler!

Boilers break down even with regular maintenance, and once it does break down, you can afford to put off as it could cost you energy, time and more money. These appliances are essential to basic daily life, but they can also come with expensive repairs, particularly if you don't have boiler cover .
Make Sure the Boiler Requires Repair
While it might sound silly, people often panic and call in an engineer only to find out the boiler's pilot light went out or it was turned off. So, take time to go through the owner's manual that came with the boiler and make some basic checks.
You do want to be extremely careful, however. Boilers can go off like a bomb and cause severe injury or even death if you make a mistake. Therefore, you should always leave major repairs for the professionals, even if you don't have boiler cover. There are a few simple repairs you can make yourself if you're comfortable.
Relighting the Pilot Light
A dead pilot light is one of the most common causes of a cold boiler -- the wind catches it the right way or the area gets a little dirty, and the flame goes out. Thankfully, it's also relatively easy to fix.
Following the instructions in the user manual, relight the pilot light. Then, give the boiler some time to heat up before checking it again. If it refuses to stay lit, or if you're unsure about anything, call in a professional.
Boilers and Water Pressure
Boilers and the rest of the heating system depend on water and water pressure. If this is too high or too low, you'll find the rooms won't heat up. Generally, the pressure gauges should read between 12 and 15 psi, but not always. So, check the owner's manual and add water or releasing pressure as needed.
When adjusting the water pressure, be very careful not to make a mistake. This can cause severe injury or death. If you're uncomfortable with this process at all, call your boiler cover provider or an engineer to do it for you.
Any simple repairs you need to make should be in the owner's manual, but generally, any and all repairs should be done by a professional because it's simply too dangerous and sometimes cost you more money than its worth.
And if you have boiler cover, you'll find these processes as well as maintenance are included in your plan, so why not? Lastly, remember that only a qualified professional should perform major repairs.
