Going Green in Business

by Harvey Bond
(Chicago, USA)

It does not matter where you go and what you do, most of the time you are purchasing something whether it be a product or a service. This is a given part of daily life.

Consumers are what keep a business afloat. If there were no consumers then the businesses would have no reason to stay or be in business.

Many people do not realize that the large consumption of many resources is done by businesses. I pretty sure people realize that it takes businesses more resources to be able to run themselves.

Everyone has to use energy, water, and many more resources to live every day, but businesses use a lot more of these resources than normal people do. This is understandable but that does not mean that we do not need to try to change this.

Going green is something that everyone needs to have a part in. There are many different businesses that have started going green in some form or fashion.

It may only be a part of the business or it might be the entire business. It does not matter how much it only matters that it is something.

It seems like every business you go into has something that has been recycled and reused. You also will see that almost all bathrooms have some type of energy saving technology or water saving technology in place.

You may think it is too expensive to put a water saving unit in your house. Certainly, some things that businesses can afford normal people cannot.

This is okay because there are plenty of things that normal people can do to go green.

Businesses are not just going green because of the environment. By going green it can benefit the employees as well.

By using building materials that are free of harmful toxins, everyone that works in the building will remain healthier. This can make the company more money because of increased productivity.

So the next time you go into a business in your town, see if you can see what measures they have taken to go green. Also see if you see where going green has benefited the company as well as the consumers.

As more people see where businesses are going green, it may in turn cause them to find ways that they can go green in their own homes as well.
