These Energy Events are a great place to learn more about the latest energy news, participate in activities and meet people involved in energy efficiency. Whether you just want to save money on your home energy bill or you are a professional, you can always learn more (and save more money!). Some events, like Earth Day, are celebrated all over the world and anyone can participate. Other events are a bit more specialized and are held in one place but have information and videos online for all to see.
Earth Day
Earth Day started in the United States in 1970 and is now celebrated all over the world. In addition to energy conservation, this event brings attention to recycling, clean air and other conservation efforts.
Every month people interested in the environment and sustainability get together at informal sessions known as Green Drinks. These informal meetings happen all over the world. And if there doesn't happen to be one in your city, you are welcome to set one up.
Earth Hour
Began in Sydney, Australia in 2007 and is an opportunity for individuals and businesses to take control of the future of our planet and is now a global sustainability movement. VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, business and community to turn off their lights for one hour all at the same time.
World Environment Day
Organized by the United Nations Environment Programme, this event aims to be the biggest, most widely celebrated global day for positive, environmental action. Celebrated on June 5, a different city hosts each year with a different theme.
Energy Day and Energy Week
Local, regional and national energy events are organized throughout Europe to promote renewable energy sources and energy efficiency. Like Earth Day, different types of activities are organized to educate and involve the public.
The Energy Efficiency Forum
Their mission statement is "To be the premier forum that promotes an energy efficiency ethic through the presentation of national and worldwide views on energy efficiency and the resulting impact on the environment, national security and economic growth."
Even though this is an invitation only event, anyone can view videos, transcripts and press releases from previous years.
