Energy Efficient Lighting

Photo of track lighting. We all use lights everyday so it's important to make sure we have Energy Efficient Lighting in our homes. Of course we turn off lights when we leave the room so we don't waste energy but what do we do to make the lights themselves more Energy Efficient?

In addition to using task lighting, one very easy and inexpensive way is to invest in Energy Efficient Light Bulbs. The two most common types are:

1. Compact Fluorescent Lamps or CFL's
A CFL is a fluorescent light that fits into a regular light socket.

2. Light Emitting Diodes or LED's.
LED's are probably the longest lasting bulbs you can buy. They are still fairly expensive but the prices are coming down.

Advantages of Energy Efficient Bulbs

Longer Lasting

Energy Efficient bulbs last about 10 times longer - that means you save your money AND your time and energy because you don't have to change light bulbs so often.

More Energy Efficient

Energy Efficient bulbs use about ~1/4 the energy of regular lighting, saving you money on your energy bill.

Easy, Do-It-Yourself "Installation"

All you do is change your light bulbs and voila! More Energy Efficient Lighting!

An Inexpensive Investment

Initially, CFL's and LED's cost more but when you factor in their long life and Energy Efficiency, they come out far cheaper in the long run.

Perfect for Renters

Your new CFL's are your investment. Take them with you when you move!

Replace as Few as One Bulb At a Time

If you're on a tight budget and can only afford one or two new bulbs at a time, that's fine. You will still be saving energy and money.

Note: To maximize your savings, replace the bulbs you use the most first, such as bathroom and kitchen bulbs.

Safer for Your Home and Family

Because LED's and CFL's produce less heat, they feel cool when you touch them. Regular lighting heats up and can pose potential fire hazards.

Our website has many other ways to save energy and keep your family safe and comfortable so please have a look around. Whether you own or rent, you're sure to find something right for you.
