(Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA)

With the threat of global warming & it's terrible consequences being witnessed on a daily basis hanging over ALL of our heads, many people are now in search of eco friendly tips for the home to try & do our own bit for society!.

Half of us may not know where to start and may not even know what eco friendly means. Eco friendly means being environmentally friendly & generally kind to the planet & protecting the worlds resources. This could be in any way possible for a home. It could be either switching to different sources of energy or other even smaller ways to protect the environment. For those of you who have no idea about eco friendly tips for your home, you have found the right article to get you started.

The first eco friendly tip for your home is regarding the replacement of electrical appliances. If you are about to replace any kind of electrical appliances at home, be it refrigerators, washing machines, dishwashers, air conditioners etc, you could try looking for appliances that are designed to be energy efficient.

This way, you will not only be saving yourself money in terms of a lower utility bill, you will also be protecting the environment my consuming less energy and hence reducing the amount of carbon gases being released into the environment when electricity is generated.

Another eco friendly tip for your home is to replace appliances that you have been using for 5 years or more. These appliances are the highest energy eaters at home. Replacing them will be a good idea. Another eco friendly tip for your home is to replace the windows at home with energy efficient windows such as double glazed windows. Apart from that, you can replace the light bulbs you use at home with fluorescent light bulbs. This saves energy and is an eco friendly way to live.

Another eco friendly tip for your home is to use recycled materials around your house. Recycled toilet paper and milk cartons made out of recycled material are a good way to start. Try saving as much water as you can at home. Replace the leaking faucets in your house with new ones. This way, you can save on every drop of water that is wasted with leaking taps at home.

Check the insulation of your home. This helps you lower your consumption of heating and cooling, which is very eco friendly. Switching the heating and cooling on unnecessarily is not eco friendly and is not recommended. Apart from this, you could practice recycling in your own home.

Contact your local recycling center and try sorting out your trash into stuff which can be recycled. By recycling, you are preventing the dumping of waste in expensive landfills and also reduce pollution.

These are small eco friendly tips for your home that you could start with. They aren’t expensive, so there is no reason why you shouldn’t start with any of these. It’s all about getting into the habit of following them.

Once you incorporate them into your life, these eco friendly tips for your home can go a long way in helping our earth & future generations!.
