I have started (wish I had sooner) only buying organic cotton clothing. Traditional cotton uses loads of pesticide and herbicides which effect the environment dramatically.
I also reuse old jeans, patch them rather than buying new ones….buy from second hand stores, vintage stores etc.
Fashion could also include advertising green living on clothing to increase awareness even more. I like the organic cotton shirts that say they are on the back near the tag, but on the outside. So when I am walking down the street I feel proud to show I am wearing something a little better for the environment and farmers.
Re-useable bags made from hemp, cotton etc are a fashion statement as well as a Green statement. Where I live currently (Ireland) it costs 15 cents per plastic bag and it really makes people think before buying plastic bags. More people walk around holding their groceries, instead of bring their own bag…….
I think Green living can go as far as you want it to. Incorporate it into your daily living to make a change in this world.
